Big Bluestem

The big bluestem grass is beginning to turn a beautiful warm red-brown color.  It covers thousands of acres in the Flint Hills and on the Konza Prairie.
The big bluestem grass is beginning to turn a beautiful warm red-brown color. It covers thousands of acres in the Flint Hills and on the Konza Prairie. I am trying to convert my ten acres into this kind of grass. I should have waited until the light was better to shoot this.

    In October,1989 I drove across Kansas from Colorado and had the pleasure of seeing fall foliage on the prairie- a lovely sight! (And of course,big bluestem grass was a part of that.) I’ve never forgotten that shifting picture.
