I walk by this statue on campus without ever stopping. Decided to investigate…. The older man on right is James Wood Green, the first Dean of the Law School. The young man is Alfred Alford, a KU law student and the first KU student to be killed in the Spanish American War. The bronze sculpture was designed and created by Daniel French, who had just completed the statue of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln memorial in DC.
