Nature’s camouflage

I've been a mulching maniac this week. I almost mulched this guy. I think it's a kind of tree frog, but I was unable to identify it on the net. Anyone know what kind it is? Great disguise.

More art

The Lawrence Public Library and Van Go Mobile Arts just unveiled a set of murals in the library auditorium. The 25 teenagers in the program interviewed people at the library to find out what they thought should be represented, and this (and much more) is what came out of it. This piece is about 1/10th of the mural. They used old books for the book pages, and book covers in part of the spines. This piece is about 6 feet high. It's a very vibrant and energetic art installation.

I spotted this on the side of an 18-wheeler parked near Reuter Organ. I would like to know who the artist is. Beautiful Losers is a good documentary that follows the lives and careers of a collective group of do-it-yourself artists and designers who inadvertently affected the art world. Two were graffiti artists.

New scarf

Taking a picture like this reminds me of an old Helen Hokinson cartoon of a stout matronly woman setting up her booth at the flower show. She's holding a sombrero and saying anxiously to her friend, "I want to achieve the effect of a sombrero carelessly thrown down."
