May 7, 2013 harvest.  Tossed this baby in butter with scrambled eggs.  Yummy.  Louie found this one.  I found zero.

There's a brownie under there. Yum!

We had friends over for dinner last night. Carol brought this beautiful pie. It was delicious, too.

long table covered with sweet potatoes

This is what 130 pounds of sweet potatoes looks like. They have to cure, and then they'll go in the basement.

giant crackers

I know this just looks like some toast, but these sesame crackers are each the size of a cookie sheet.

Just Food is the local warehouse where you can take food for distribution to people who need it. They now have refrigerated storage so they can take vegetables. Got extra produce? Take it to Just Food (11th & Haskell in Lawrence, KS). If you don't live in Lawrence, find the place in your town that will give it away. One more thing: Just Food loves to get those food donations, but donations of money are even better. They are able to purchase food in bulk very inexpensively. $1 donated is equal to one meal. So give food AND money!

Louie's salsa made from our tomatillos, onions, and peppers took 2nd place overall and 1st place for most exotic at the Farmers' Market Salsa Contest last Saturday! He gets $20.00 in tokens to spend at the Market. He said he'll buy me flowers. :)
