Named after William Forsyth, a royal head gardener and founding member of the Royal Horticultural Society. Priscilla's storytelling post inspired this one.
This is the chard that I started from seed yesterday. I will nurture it carefully. From the seed packet: Thompson and Morgan offered Rainbow Swiss Chard through 1989, but then apparently lost the yellow and orange colors and dropped the mixture. After years of searching, Seed Savers Exchange (SSE) discovered that their friends at Digger's Garden Club in Australia have been offering the true Five Color Silverbeet for a decade. Absolutely spectacular range of colors throughout the entire season.
