The sunsets on a HOT August night as if it's predicting more heat for tomorrow. I have taken a break from posting grasses. I can't stand the thought of fumigating myself against insects and dressing in long pants and long sleeves to collect grasses in this heat. Did I mention it's HOT? The thermometer registered 103 yesterday. It's only 84 degrees in the Eternal City, and the Romans are exiting the city because they think that's hot.
These clouds brought rain, snow, and hail -- in July. A real thrill for this Kansas girl. And. That smell of pine trees refreshed me thoroughly. Ahhhhhhhhh!
The wind began to switch / The house, to pitch / And suddenly the hinges started to unhitch / Just then the Witch / To satisfy an itch / Went flying on her broomstick, thumbing for a hitch!
This one missed us, but what a beauty. The haze at the horizon gives you an idea of the humidity level. Oppressive. What a marvelous invention air conditioning is.
Sunset last night. After the fog, after 100% humidity without rain, after complete darkness with dramatic lightening, the sun set and cast this red-orange glow across the sky. An exciting natural evening. Those spots are rain drops on the camera lens.
Warm, humid air produced this eerie image. At first I thought it was a dust cloud, but it was, in fact, fog. It just floated up the hill. As I watched, it surrounded my deck and moved on to the south. Weird weather.
